In praise of Grace Jones, the unsung godmother of weird

Damn that 10:30 curfew at the Hollywood Bowl. It sucked all the momentum and joy out of the last few moments of an otherwise incredible Grace Jones performance Sunday night , the beguilingly bizarre art-pop diva’s debut at the landmark amphitheater and her first full-blown appearance in Los Angeles in at least two decades. Sweet Jesus Tea and other branding problems

So I started wondering why “the zen of tea” feels trendy and cool, even “yogi tea” makes me smile without feeling threatened, but “the Jesus of tea” would feel cheap and weird.
