I won’t try to explain what Elephant 6 is, I’ll let them do that themselves on their new website. What I will say is that some of my favorite music of the last 20 years has been made by bands who are a part of the Elephant 6 collective/label/cult, most particularly The Olivia Tremor Control & Neutral Milk Hotel. This post is about which Elephant 6 bands are getting the most listens on Last.FM (yes, I’m still obsessed with that site.) Below they are ranked in order of number of listeners to date

2009 hasn’t been spectacular but as with most years, there have been a bevy of solid releases. Our staff would like to acknowledge these so that readers can catch up on music they may have missed. There’s a fair deal of variety here so SOTS offers potential discoveries for listeners of all stripes.
